First-Gen Scholars

First-Gen Scholars is a new, dynamic scholarship program for first-generation Roadrunners that fosters undergraduate student success by reducing loan debt, increasing graduation rates, and emphasizing career-engaged learning.

Support for Personal, Academic and Career Success

Student scholars will receive a semester scholarship of up to $1000*. With support from peer mentors and seasoned faculty coaches, students will enhance their career readiness skills and expand their personal and professional networks. Scholars will also have the opportunity to engage in unique workshops, learning activities, and signature events designed for them.

*Additional scholarship funding may be available in future terms.

Program Eligibility

  • First-generation college student (Parents’ or guardians’ highest level of education is less than a Bachelor’s degree)
  • Eligible for the Federal Pell Grant
  • Enrolled full-time at 世界杯官方app
  • Texas Resident
  • Good Academic Standing (Overall GPA of 2.0 of higher)
  • Junior Classification (when entering program)

Program Requirements

  • Meet twice with your First Gen faculty mentor each semester.
  • Meet twice with your First Gen peer mentor each semester.
  • Meet twice with your chosen career mentor(s) each semester.
  • Engage in 2 career-focused workshops or signature event each semester.
  • Engage in one (1) career-engaged learning opportunity (e.g., internship, undergraduate research, study abroad, campus employment) annually to be verified through a letter of completion.
